Exactly ten years ago, Antoniya Yordanova and Ivan Kyurkchiev’s piano duo made their official debut on the Bulgaria Chamber Music Hall’s stage. Following this event came awards from the most prestigious piano duo competitions in Chicago, San Marino, Rome, Paris, concerts throughout Europe, Israel and even China, and a decade later the Bulgarian audience will have the opportunity to enjoy their exceptional musicianship in this same venue on April 19th, from 7:30 p.m. with a fully Russian programme, including Scriabin’s exquisite Fantasy, Rachmaninoff’s notorious Suite No. 2 and the explosive finale – Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. During the concert, the Yordanova & Kyurkchiev piano duo will present their brand new CD “Synergy” to be officially released on April 23th in Munich.

Yordanova & Kyurkchiev created their ensemble in 2007, captivating the attention of the audience with profound ideas and poetic sensitivity. Numerous prizes at major International Competitions are evidence for their undeniable mastery:
- 2nd Prize at 2016 Chicago International Duo Piano Competition (USA)
- 1st “Absolute” Prize at the XXII “Roma” International Piano Competition (Italy)
- 1st Prize at the 15th “Torneo Internazionale di Musica” (TIM) International Music Competition (France)
- 3rd Prize at the 5th International Piano Competition of the Republic of San Marino “Allegro Vivo”
- 3rd Prize at the XVIII “F.Schubert” International Piano Duo Competition (Czech Republic)
- Two Special prizes at the 3rd International “S. Taneyev” Chamber Music Competition (Russia)
Some significant appearances include concerts in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Israel, USA, Russia and China. They have performed in Nichols Concert Hall in Chicago, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Xuzhou Concert Hall in China, National Theatre of Saint Charles in Lisbon, Swan Hall in the Sintra’s National Palace, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow and other famous venues.
Antoniya and Ivan have been invited at renowned festivals like “Sintra Festival” in Sintra, Portugal, “Varna Summer” International Music Festival in Varna, Bulgaria, “Reger Musik Tage” Festival in Bayreuth, Germany, “Richard Strauss” Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany and others.
The Duo’s debut CD “Synergy” with works of Brahms, Debussy, Rachmaninov and Scriabin, production of “M Music Records” Label will be released in April, 2017 in Munich, Germany.
Yordanova & Kyurkchiev refined their ensemble under the influence of prominent mentors like duo Yaara Tal & Andreas Groethuysen, Boyan Vodenitcharov and Georg Friedrich Schenck. Master classes have been taken with duo Yuval Admony & Tami Kanazawa, and with Emanuel Krasovsky, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Victor Derevianko, Ronan O’Hora and Sachiko Kodama.
The duo holds two Master’s degrees: as a duo from the University of Music and Performing Arts, Munich/Germany and as a soloists from Koninklijk Conservatorium, Brussels/Belgium.
Both pianists have also extensive individual experience and are frequently invited for different projects and collaborations. Some of their personal achievements are “Von Rauscher auf Weeg” award from Yehudi Menuhin’s Foundation “Live Music Now”; Grand Prix at the ”Evangelia Tjiarri” International Piano Competition, Cyprus; 1st Prize at the International Music Competition “Young Music Talents” (Sofia, Bulgaria); Special award at the “Peter de Gröte” International Music Festival (Groningen, Holland); laureate at the International “Citta di Stressa” Piano Competition (Stressa, Italy); “Talent of the Year”Bulgarian National award; “Peter Chernev” Bulgarian National award; Plenty of concert appearances in Europe. Master classes have been taken with Catherine Vickers, György Nádor, Ivry Gitlis, Yo-Yo Ma, Adrian Brendel, Tamara Poddubnaya, Boris Bloch, Paul Komen and John Kenneth Adams.
Yordanova & Kyurkchiev Duo’s performances have been broadcasted on the Bavarian Radio, Tel – Aviv Radio, Bulgarian National Television, Bulgarian National Radio, San Marino Television Telepace, WFMT Chicago Radio and Vatican Radio.
